Circus acts: On the stage
Tigers jumping through fiery hoops, bears riding bikes and hula hooping, elephants balancing on their heads are acts that are painful, frightening, and demeaning to these wild animals. Would you see these animals doing acts such as these in any natural setting?
According to Dr. I R Swingland who has a bachelors degree in science, a PhD, is a member of the Institute of Biology, and is the chairman of the Wild Animals Advisory Committee in the UK, circus animals display signs of stress and suffering and highly abnormal behavior patterns, "including only those patterns of behaviour which are not part of the species’ natural behaviour, such as undirected pacing, head-weaving, bar biting etc." (RSPCA).
